A moveable fEast-er

I've seen a few people on the internet wondering why Easter is moved this year. Well, I guess they haven't been paying attention because Easter moves to a different date every single year. Some holidays have specific calculations of when they will occur during the year. Easter is determined by whatever date is the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after the ecclesiastical spring equinox. This year the ecclesiastical (as opposed to astronomical) spring equinox was March 21. The first full Moon after that date is April’s Full Pink Moon, which reaches peak illumination April 12 at 8:22 pm. According to the guideline, this makes Easter the second Sunday after April 12: April 20.

The earliest Easter can be is March 22nd. The latest is April 25th. Here's a list of the dates of Easter for the years 2000 through 2099.
